We've always taken the lead in setting the organic research agenda both in the UK and abroad. The objectives of the research programme are principally to ensure that the rapidly growing organic sector is well equipped to meet the demands for organic food by enabling producers to tackle the obstacles to conversion or problems relating to the system.

EFRC has been concerned throughout its history with aspects of whole systems research; from the development of stockless (all arable organic rotations) to major environmental and economic research. Research is carried out within established and well functioning organic systems or on aspects of the system such as weed control strategies or nutrient management..

Projects are funded from various sources, including Defra, the EU and our own resources.
